Without
the backing of Anna Coote and Patricia Hewitt at IPPR, this radical document
could never have been published. Until that moment, any attempt to value
men as the intimate carers of children was seen as synonymous with 'doing
down' women (as, indeed, in some circles it still is). IPPR (unable to
raise funding on this controversial topic) bravely supported Men &
Their Children out of core funding.
