Excerpt:
It
is now established that men can be competent caretakers of children including
new-borns, that most are deeply attached to their infants, and that some
are already centrally involved in child-rearing. The parenting styles
of mothers and fathers within couples have been revealed as remarkably
similar; and where fathering differs from mothering, this is more strongly
associated with situation than with gender. As soon as men take on similar
levels (to mothers) of responsibility for young children, parenting-approaches
generally become indistinguishable.
